Voyageur Winter Carnival
February 16th, 17th & 18th, 2019

A weekend of winter fun awaits the whole family at Fort William Historical Park’s Voyageur Winter Carnival. Come out and enjoy our family MIDWAY rides, giant snow maze, tubing and sliding hills, skating, winter games and activities, carnival games and contests, indoor and outdoor entertainment, and more!

Activities

  • Family Midway Rides!
    Ferris Wheel Frame2
    • Experience the historic site from a different perspective with two midway rides!
    • Tickets are $3.00 per ride and subject to height restrictions.
    • CASH ONLY

  • Ice Racing Demonstration on the Kam! Experience the speed and excitement as the Thunder Bay Autosport Club go head to head on the Kaministiquia River in an ice race demonstration (Monday 4:00pm only - weather permitting)

  • Giant snow maze
  • Horse drawn wagon rides
  • Skating (Skates not provided; skate check available)
  • Tubing on the BIG Amphitheatre Hill (tubes provided)
  • Children’s sliding hill in the Main Square (tubes provided)
  • Visit the Cabane à sucre and enjoy francophone culture with le Club culturel francophone (CCF) de Thunder Bay (Maple taffy treats are available for purchase)
  • Fire a musket with the Canadian Corps of Voyageurs ($3.00 per shot, proceeds go to the Canadian Corps of Voyageurs volunteer organization)
  • Crafts
  • Science station
  • Snow graffiti
  • Traditional activities including: snow snake, snowshoeing (equipment provided), visiting historic buildings and characters, visiting the farm, and much more!
  • Outdoor & indoor games including: curling, winter golf, carnival games, shuttle puck, edible snowmen, and much more!

Contest Schedule

  • 12:00pm         Family Moose Ski Race
  • 12:30pm         Log Sawing
  • 1:45pm           Snow Snake
  • 3:00pm           Curling – Draw to the Button

 Food and Beverage

  • Full menu offered in the Cantine (Debit, Visa, MasterCard, & cash accepted)
  • Gran Sasso (cash only)
  • Outside food and beverages are not allowed
    • In the case of dietary restrictions please contact the Visitor Experience Coordinator at 807-473-2357 to make alternate arrangements prior to event date

What to Bring

  • Hats, mitts, face coverings, and all other weather appropriate clothing
  • Ice skates (a skate and sled check location will be available)
  • Cash (ATM available)

 Bus Information

  • There is no shuttle service for the event from any point in the city
  • Check the Thunder Bay transit schedule, Neebing route, here

Access to the Site by Snow Machine & RV

  • Snow machines cannot park at the event; there is no admissions entrance via the Kaministiquia River
  • RV’s will not be permitted in the parking lot for overnight stay

 Camping

  • There is no camping at this event, the campground is closed for the season

Event Rules and Regulations

  • FWHP has a zero tolerance policy; any patron found to be in contravention with the rules and regulations will be dealt with accordingly
  • Pets are not allowed at this event
  • No hockey sticks
