Celebrate Indigenous culture at Anishnawbe Keeshigun! Join us for a weekend filled with entertainment, activities and demonstrations that celebrate Indigenous culture and traditions.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 807-473-2344 or in person at Fort William Historical Park.

Activities

  • Learn about a variety of Indigenous traditions with hands-on demonstrations including traditional teas, fruit leather and berry preserves, wood carving, pemmican making, wild rice cooking, and fish preparation.
  • Watch and learn about various styles of traditional dance.
  • Sample traditional foods such as corn, bannock and smoked fish.
  • Test your aim with exciting challenges such as atlatl (spear throwing) and baggataway (lacrosse).
  • Increase your Oji-Cree vocabulary and win handcrafted prizes by joining the Language Scavenger Hunt.
  • Create traditional crafts you can take home.
  • Take part in the bannock making and fire lighting contests for a chance to win great prizes.

Food and Beverage

  • Full menu offered in the Cantine (Debit, VISA, MasterCard, & cash accepted)
  • The Bannock Lady (cash only)
  • Outside food and beverages are not allowed
    • In the event of dietary restrictions, please contact the Visitor Experiences Coordinator at (807) 473-2357 to make alternate arrangements prior to event date
  • ATM available in Visitor Centre

Bus Information

  • There is no shuttle service to the event

Access by Bike, Boat, or RV

  • Cyclists are welcome, bike racks will be available
  • Boats cannot dock at the event; there is no admissions entrance via the Kaministiquia River 
  • RV’s are only permitted in the parking lot for the duration of the event; overnight stay is only permitted in the campground with a registered campsite and a camping permit

Camping

  • $35.00(+HST) for a serviced site
  • $25.00(+HST) for a non-serviced site
  • Admission is separate from campsite fees

Event Rules and Regulations

  • Fort William Historical Park has a zero tolerance policy; any patron found to be in contravention with FWHP rules and regulations will be dealt with accordingly
  • Pets are not allowed at this event
