Voyageur Winter Carnival

February 15th, 16th & 17th, 2020 • 11:00am-5:00pm, daily

A weekend of winter fun awaits the whole family at Fort William Historical Park’s Voyageur Winter Carnival on Family Day Weekend 2020. Come out and enjoy new outdoor winter Zorb Ball track and human bowling alleys, tubing hills, skating, wagon rides, ice dragon boats, winter games and activities, live indoor and outdoor entertainment.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 807-473-2344 or in person at the Fort William Historical Park Visitor Centre.


  • Race with friends and family using ice pick paddles and specially designed dragon boats sporting ice blades (Must be 56" or taller, $2.00 per person)
  • Explore the Giant Zorb Ball Obstacle Track (Must be 46" or taller)
  • Zorb Ball Human Bowling Alleys (Must be 46" or taller)
  • Bring your skates and go skating along the Kaministiquia River
  • Snow maze
  • Tubing hills
  • Visit the cabane à sucre and enjoy francophone culture with the Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay ($2.00 each)
  • Try firing a historic musket provided by the Canadian Corps of Voyageurs ($3.00 per person)
  • Outdoor activities including snowshoeing, curling, winter golf and snow graffiti

What to Bring

  • Weather appropriate clothing. Voyageur Winter Carnival is an outdoor, all-weather event.
  • Ice skates and/or sleds. A skate and sled check location will be available.

Food & Beverage

  • Food and Beverage will be available for purchase at the event. Licensed area will be available (19+). All visitors will be asked for appropriate identification by staff to enter the liquor licensed areas.
  • Outside food and beverages are not allowed. In the event of a patron with dietary restrictions (i.e., allergies, etc.), please contact the Visitor Experiences Coordinator at 807-473-2357 prior to the event to make alternate arrangements.

Snow Machines & River Access
Snow machines cannot park at the event. There is no admissions entrance via the Kaministiquia River.

Event Rules & Regulations

  • Fort William Historical Park has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy. Any patron found to be in contravention with the rules and regulations will be dealt with accordingly.
  • Pets are not allowed at this event.
  • Hockey sticks are not allowed.
