RV and Tenting Campground

Nestled on the banks of the scenic Kaministiquia River, the Fort William Historical Park Campground has plenty of room for RVs, trailers, and tents of all sizes. Northern Ontario’s beautiful summer nights make for an amazing camping experience the whole family will enjoy! Be sure to add us to your travel itinerary while visiting Northwestern Ontario for a truly memorable experience.

The campground opens for the season on May 17, 2024, and will be open until October 14, 2024.

Please note, the campground will be closed July 14-25, 2024, to accomodate Country on the Bay.

Non-serviced sites

  • $25 per night +HST

Serviced sites

  • $40 per night +HST
  • Equipped with 50/30/20-amp electrical outlets, and a freshwater connection

Rental RVs

  • $110 per night +HST
  • RV Rentals are located on serviced sites
  • RVs are complete with a kitchen, dining area, and sleeping areas for up to 6 people
  • Campers will need to bring their own sleeping gear, cook ware, food, and any other required supplies

Campground amenities include:

  • Picnic tables and firepit rings
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Access to our gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs, gifts, and firewood
  • Pets are welcome at campsites
  • Just a short drive to a variety of shopping and dining locales
  • Paved wheelchair-accessible pathways
  • Access to the Kaministiquia River
  • Garbage cans and recycling bins
  • Access to a grey and black water dump station

A Note to Our Visitors

Effective October 30, the Broadway Avenue entrance will be closed for the winter until May 1, 2024. Please use the King Road entrance during this time.


Explore Fort William

Historic Site: Open Monday through Friday, offering scheduled guided tours throughout the day led by one of the Fort's inhabitants. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours.

  • Self-guided tours are not available

Admission: $13 per person (includes HST), Children 5 & under are free

  • Fort William Historical Park accepts the Personal Attendant for Leisure (PAL) Card. The PAL Card provides free admission to a support person accompanying the person identified on the card. Please present your PAL card prior to making your ticket purchase.
  • Fort William Historical Park offers free admission for Indigenous Persons from Canada. 
  • Fort William Historical Park offers free admission for Canadian military personnel and veterans. Please present your CF1 or NDI 75 card when purchasing tickets.

Campground

Pets

Pets are welcome at Fort William Historical Park; however, we ask that you adhere to the following when your pet is on our property:

  • Pets are allowed at the campground and historic site but must be kept on a leash.
  • Pets are not permitted inside the Cantine Restaurant, Gift Shop, McGillivray’s Landing, or the Café Kam.
  • There is outdoor, pet-friendly seating available at the Cantine Restaurant.
  • Please clean-up immediately after your pet using a disposable bag and place it in an outdoor waste receptacle.
  • Service animals are allowed in all places to which the public is admitted.
