A Note to Our Visitors

Beginning May 8, 2023, we will reopen the Broadway Avenue entrance. The King Road entrance will be closed.


Explore Fort William

Travel back in time to 1815 and discover Fort William. This is the inland headquarters of the North West Company, the world's largest fur trading enterprise with posts stretching across North America. This is a place where cultures meet, and relationships are forged between Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous newcomers. Come experience this unique place and time in history through the eyes of peoples past who lived and worked around Fort William!

Historic Site: Open 7-days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering scheduled guided tours throughout the day led by one of  Fort William's inhabitants. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours. Visitors are welcome to explore the historic site after their guided tour. Last admission is at 4 p.m.

Tour Times:
English - 10:15 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4 p.m.
French - By request

Admission +HST: $14 per Adult, $12 per Senior and Student, $11 per Youth, Children 5 & under are free

  • Sunday, July 2 through Sunday, September 4, 2023

Historic Site: Open 7-days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last admission is at 4 p.m. Enjoy a self-guided experience of Fort William featuring costumed interpreters across the historic site and scheduled daily activities. 

French guided tours are available at 10:45 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 3:15 p.m.

Admission +HST: $16 per Adult, $14 per Senior and Student, $12 per Youth, Children 5 & under are free

  • Monday, September 5 through Saturday, September 23, 2023

Admission +HST: $11 per person, Children 5 & under are free

  • Fort William Historical Park accepts the Personal Attendant for Leisure (PAL) Card. The PAL Card provides free admission to a support person accompanying the person identified on the card. Please present your PAL card prior to making your ticket purchase.
  • Fort William Historical Park offers free admission for Indigenous persons from Canada. Please present your Status Card when purchasing tickets.
  • Fort William Historical Park offers free admission for Canadian military personnel and veterans. Please present your CF1 card when purchasing tickets.

Campground

The campground is open for the season. The campground offers serviced and non-serviced campsites and RV rentals. Visit RV & Tent Campground for more information about our campground and available amenities.


Cantine Restaurant

The Cantine Restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.


Education & Overnight Programs

Facility Rentals

Facility rentals for weddings, conferences and meetings, and other private functions are currently available.


Pets

Pets are welcome at Fort William Historical Park; however, we ask that you adhere to the following when your pet is on our property:

  • Pets are allowed at the campground and historic site but must be kept on a leash.
  • Pets are not permitted inside the Cantine Restaurant, Gift Shop, McGillivray’s Landing, or the Café Kam.
  • There is outdoor, pet-friendly seating available at the Cantine Restaurant.
  • Please clean-up immediately after your pet using a disposable bag and place it in an outdoor waste receptacle.
  • Service animals are allowed in all places to which the public is admitted.
