Northern Ontario’s beautiful summer nights make for an amazing camping experience the whole family will enjoy!

Nestled on the banks of the scenic Kaministiquia River, Fort William Historical Park’s campground has plenty of room for RVs, trailers and tents of all sizes. We offer serviced and non-serviced sites. The campground is open from Victoria Day Weekend through Thanksgiving Weekend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Campsites are only rented to persons who are at least 18 years of age with a valid government photo ID, such as a Passport, Ontario Photo Card, or Driver’s License.
If you make a change to or cancel your reservation eight (8) or more days prior to your scheduled arrival date, the change/cancellation fee is $8.85 +HST. If you make a change to or cancel your reservation seven (7) or fewer days prior to your scheduled arrival date, the fee is one night of camping plus the change/cancellation fee of $8.85 +HST.

A maximum of six people are allowed per campsite.

Check-in time is 2 p.m. or later. Early check-in may be possible if your campsite is available. The Visitor Centre is open until 5 p.m. If you are arriving later, please proceed directly to your campsite and check-in the following day. The Visitor Centre opens at 9 a.m. Check out time is 12 p.m. or earlier.

Sewer hook-ups are not available at the campsites. There is a dumping station located near the main entrance gate, which is available for use by registered campers.

Guests are the responsibility of the registered campers within the campsite and are welcome to visit between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. Guests must park in the Visitor Centre parking lot.

Loud noise is not permitted between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Generators must also be turned off during this time.

Alcohol is only permitted within the confines of your registered campsite. Please drink responsibly.

Smoking, vaping and the use of tobacco products is permitted within the confines of your registered campsite and the other designated locations on the property. All visitors are expected to comply with the Government of Ontario’s Smoke-Free Ontario Act.

Cannabis consumption is only permitted within the confines of your registered campsite. Visitors who have the authorization of their healthcare provider are permitted to consume medical cannabis in the designated cannabis consumption area, as well as within the confine of their registered campsite. All visitors are expected to comply with the Government of Ontario’s Cannabis Laws and Smoke-Free Ontario Act.

Information about boil water advisories is issued by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. Information about fire bans is issued by the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry. Fort William Historical Park staff will inform campers currently staying at its campground and upon arrival if a boil water advisory or fire ban is currently in effect.
